FAQ
3) How do I get started?

Schedule a free 15-minute phone call so we can make sure this is the right fit for you. If so, we’ll schedule a 90-minute intake appointment.
1) Do you take insurance?

No. Elm City Psychiatry is a cash-pay practice. This allows me to spend more time with you, offer more flexibility in how we structure visits, and use an iterative approach to care-adjusting the plan based on what’s working, what’s not, and what your goals are over time. Fees are transparent and listed clearly.
If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill upon request that you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement (coverage varies by plan).
11) What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards: American Express, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover. We also accept HSA/FSA cards, as long as they are issued by one of the major card brands (Visa, Discover, Mastercard, or Amex). Payment is expected at the time the service is provided and will automatically be billed to the credit card on file after your appointment.
6) Who do you work with?

Adults 18–65 in Utah who want an integrative approach to concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, sleep issues, burnout, and life transitions.
7) Who may not be a good fit?

If you need a higher level of care (frequent crisis support, intensive outpatient/residential treatment) or urgent same-day services, I can help you find a more appropriate resource.
2) Are appointments in-person or virtual?

Right now, all appointments are virtual for adults located in Utah. In-person visits are coming soon, and I’ll update the website as soon as they’re available.
9) How often will we meet?

It depends on your goals, complexity, and what we’re working on. Early on, visits are often more frequent; over time we space them out as you stabilize and build a sustainable plan.
10) How do I contact you between visits?

For non-urgent questions, you can message me through the established clinical channel. I respond during business hours. Elm City Psychiatry cannot provide emergency care.
5) What if I'm in crisis?

Elm City Psychiatry is not able to provide emergency services. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. If you need urgent support, you can call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) anytime. If you’re an established patient and it’s not an emergency, you can message me through the usual clinical channel and I’ll respond as soon as possible during business hours.
8) What is your cancelation policy?

Should you need to cancel, please do so at least 24 business hours in advance. Business days are considered weekdays, and exclude holidays. Cancellations made with less than 24 business hours notice, or missed appointments, are charged the full appointment fee. For example: an appointment scheduled for 12pm on Monday must be cancelled by 12pm on Friday to avoid incurring a fee.
4) Do you prescribe medication?

Yes. I prescribe medication when clinically appropriate and always as part of a broader plan. If medication is used, we focus on clear goals, careful monitoring, and minimizing side effects - while also addressing lifestyle, mind-body, and psychological factors that support long-term improvement.
11) Do you prescribe controlled medication for ADHD or anxiety?

Sometimes, when clinically appropriate and after a thorough evaluation. If controlled medication is part of the plan, I follow safety-focused best practices, which may include reviewing past records and using additional monitoring.
